At the 3-day Startup Weekend from March 2012 to April 30, 1, not only brainstorming but also mentors (experienced developers, designers, marketers, entrepreneurs and investors) will put themselves to the test as they will have to launch a project together.
The second event in Hungary has a four-year international tradition. During this time, more than 500 Startup Weekends brought together about 50 professionals, and 30% of the ideas initiated as projects here were realized as business ventures. Last year, forty enthusiastic young people between the ages of 20 and 35 threw up their ideas in Hungary.
“Everywhere in the world, it’s almost exactly the same scenario on a weekend like this. Ideas will be on display on Friday night, and teams will be set up to implement the best of them. The ideal team consists of 6 people: 3 developers, 1 designer, 1 marketer and 1 project manager, ”says Gábor Borbély, co-founder of the Colabs Startup Center, which launched Startup Weekend in Hungary. On Saturday, the teams will begin product development, and on Sunday, a working prototype will be presented to other participants and a jury of investors and successful entrepreneurs.

Last year, 8 projects were developed, of which 2 were transformed into companies. Awarded the best by the jury and also winning the audience award, Tagomo is a geolocation-based augmented reality app that entices its users to virtual street art. “Before Startup Weekend, it was really just an idea in my head. I didn't have much hope for it. It was shocking that they had struck down Tagomo, and in 54 hours it had become a finished project, ”recalls István Vince, Tagomo's idea owner.
