Netbook front is strengthened by ASUS

The novelty of the Eee PC 1201N has been given a processor with higher performance than usual.

ASUS, which invented the netbook category and reformed it several times, is apparently not resting on its laurels: although their latest machine, labeled Eee PC 1201N, does not differ radically from the usual parameters in the category, however, regarding the central unit, we can face a significant shrug. The heart of the machine is still an Intel Atom unit, but it is now the 330 version: in addition to having a dual-core design, this processor also has Hyper-Threading support, thanks to which the CPU guarantees significantly higher performance than the previous series. despite the unchanged 1,6 GHz clock speed. The disadvantage of the higher performance is that the consumption of the central unit has increased significantly: while the first-generation Atom N270 processor consumed 2,5 watts, the new one consumes around 8 watts, which has a negative effect on both heat production and battery life. In practice, the latter means that while the previous models with the six-cell battery produced approximately 9 hours of operation time, the new "1201N" model can only operate for 5 hours with the same performance energy source.

Whether increased performance or longer battery life is more important to customers is still questionable, however, with a 12-inch display with a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels, 3 GB of system memory, a 250 GB hard disk, Wi-Fi radio, and HDMI The arrival of the "Eee PC 1201N" equipped with an output can now be assured. The purchase price of the device, which is expected to debut in the first month of 2010, is already within the usual range for the category, i.e. it is expected to be around HUF 118-120 thousand.
