Computex: power supply flood
In addition to 80 Plus Gold, the manufacturers have targeted Platinum certification.
The power supply manufacturers weren’t reluctant to offer a thorough delivery this time either, so there were quite a few products to look at, many of which boasted the 80 Plus Gold rating, but there was no shortage of the 80 Plus Platinum sticker either. Here are some EZCOOL products first. Fixed and modular wiring power supplies with an 80 Plus Gold rating were observed at the stand. In addition to good efficiency, they were given a unique and attractive design, with power ranging from 500 watts to 1000 watts.
The next manufacturer in the line is Be Quiet !, where several changes will take effect, already in terms of product families. The series called Straight Power has been replaced with Gold certification instead of the previous 80 Plus Silver. Here, a novelty with modular cabling appeared. Going further in the product range, the PurePower series will expand to 730 watts in power. Products worth the 80 Plus Bronze grade will be available at the end of September and the shroud has also fallen off the goods. Accordingly, the 430 Watt model will cost € 69, the 530 Watt will cost € 79, the 630 Watt will cost € 89, while the 730 Watt version will cost € 109. The manufacturer didn’t stop there, as they also unveiled a Dark Power-type power supply that could already achieve an authoritative 94% efficiency, so it got the Platinum sticker. However, the price of this is still obscure.
The line continues with additional Platinum certified power supplies. Enermax presented two monsters with 900 W and 1.200 W output power and were named Platimax. They are cooled by a 14 cm fan. The Xigmatek unveiled a huge monster to the general public with no less than 1.450 watts of power. The 12-volt branch here is divided into two parts, where the first is capable of delivering 55 Amps and the second 75 Amps. A 13 cm air agitator is responsible for cooling.
The last two manufacturers may be of interest to more people as they have moved the extremely high efficiency into lower power foods as well. The first was the Cougar, which boasted two 500-watt power supplies. OEM supplier High Power Tech is also present in this power category, as they have introduced a 500, a 600 and a 1.000 Watt version in addition to their 1.200 Watt model.
