SESamsung is expected to launch its new, eco-friendly optical drive called SE-208BW, which is uniquely networked with optical drives, and can even be used to mount a weak Wi-Fi signal at the beginning of next year.

The device primarily functions as a CD and DVD writer, but it also supports the DLNA standard, so that wireless connectivity can be established between SE-208BW and DLNA compatible devices, and content stored on the drive can be displayed on your smartphone, tablet, or tablet Smart TV.

Connected to an 380 gram weighing 140mm x 21,5mm x 200mm SE-208BW Ethernet can also be used as a wireless access point (AP) and as a repeater for amplification of the weak Wi-Fi signal. The sleek, brightly coated complementary AllShare (DLNA) technology means that multimedia content, movies and music stored on it can be streamlined wirelessly to DLNA compatible smartphones, tablets, or even PCs. For TVs that support DLNA, you can view the contents of the drive through the menus, which can be played back and recorded on CDs and DVDs. The SE-208BW also offers intelligent data backup solutions: wireless connectivity allows content stored on your smartphone or tablet to be saved on CDs or DVDs without turning on your desktop or laptop. The drive also supports Dynamic DNS, which can also be a stand-alone server. To do so, you only need to connect the external hard drive or USB drive and the Internet LAN cable to the SE-208BW and have already created their own cloud, ie cloud-based server.

SE-208BW is fully compatible with the major operating systems, including Windows 7 and Macintosh OS X. The device is equipped with Buffer Under Run technology that prevents buffer erasure errors that may arise when the writing speed exceeds the data transfer rate. Additionally, running multiple programs at the same time makes writing CDs or DVDs flawless.

The DVD burner provides the following write speeds for different disc types: 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD ± R, 5X DVD-RAM, 6X DVD + R Dual Layer, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer, 8X DVD + RW and 6X DVD-RW.

Samsung's external optical drive is a low-power, environmentally-friendly product made with lead-free soldering technology that meets international environmental standards that limit the use of hazardous substances.

The SE-208BW is expected to be available from the beginning of 2012 in our country.
