8 capabilities that we think every cool mobile should know in 2018

Or at least we want the new devices to have these capabilities!

2018 is already here, it’s just turned the corner, and we’re excited about what next year will bring to the smartphone market. What’s more, now we’re not just thinking specifically about Chinese phones, but smart phones in general, be they any manufacturer.

1. Full screen, frameless 18: 9 display

This is a pretty obvious expectation, we probably haven’t surprised anyone with it - I’ll tell you right now, we won’t be surprised by the others either - as we’ve come across more and more such phones in recent months. At the same time, we would feel strange if a manufacturer without it tried to blow up the market with a new mobile phone without the new display form. The only exception is Apple, where they are also able to pee voluntarily into the outlet. The question is when they will be punished by the market, and whether the iPhone X sales data that is being read these days is the beginning of the end, or maybe the end of the beginning.

The point is that every manufacturer that makes some of it forces the 18: 9 aspect ratio, we note, we think they do it well. We've written a lot about phones with new displays and their benefits, but the point is to make mobile phones more usable.

2. Two-day battery life

Okay, before you start saying that you already have so much, you have to answer that you are right and you are not. The manufacturers say that their phone lasts for 2 days, but always adds it to average usage. Well, average use is worse than healthy cholesterol levels because the latter is invented by at least one committee each year, depending on how skillfully lobbyists make cholesterol-lowering pills. But there is no committee for average use. So, if you play a lot or don’t even go that far, just say you’re bored and watching just one movie, that’s 1 piece, you can already blow the two-day run time.

Obviously there are phones for which this is not true, but for the majority it is. Anyway, due to Apple’s latest (???) prank, a lot of eyes are focused on battery performance these days, so it’s clear that this is the line where phone manufacturers need to improve. Luckily, it’s not just us who know it, so we’re going to spend more and more money on research and development among our favorite Chinese manufacturers, and we’re coming across more and more phones with surprising battery capacity. So the point is, we predict that in 2018 there will be even more emphasis on two-day uptime, more and more phones will actually meet this requirement.

3. Waterproof Nano coating

Samsung has been using the method for years to protect their top phones from water, and we hope that a good example will spread not only on expensive phones, but also on cheaper handsets from Chinese manufacturers. Luckily, there are already examples of this, as Elephone, which has been gaining strength in recent years, is already using it on its next flagship, we’d be surprised if they didn’t have fast followers. At least we hope there will be a good number of them!

4. USB Type-C

Forget the micro USB connectors! We hated them. Just as fatty bread always hits the ground with its jaw, we tried to insert the USB plug into the hole in reverse. Not to mention that the middle contact was broken even with a little force, and then we could clown so that we could at least charge the phone. Dirty, distasteful structure, let’s cross densely and turn our face towards the Type-C!

We really hope that in 2018 there will no longer be a phone with a micro USB connector, or if so, the market will put it on fire quickly!

5. Latest Android release

We really hate it if a phone at least in its new age doesn’t come to us with the latest version of Android. Anyway, there are issues with some manufacturers with the upgrade, at least we get enough to make our phone feel outdated a little later.

Of course, we also hate when, say, Samsung tells the top phone two years ago not to release the latest Android system because the phone’s hardware isn’t capable of providing a decent user experience with the new Android, while a noname Chinese manufacturer releases half as powerful a phone with the latest Android, and the miracle of miracles runs smoothly on your device.

So with boards high, let’s show that our phone doesn’t become obsolete in 2 years, but we can use it with the best Android until it just falls on its atoms. But even if we don’t get that, at least the new phones shouldn’t come out with Android 6 or, at best, 7 in 2018!

6. Fingerprint scanners below the screen

Well, this is the real Sci-Fi! Also in 2017, for every phone for something, it was rumored that, well, this will be the first one where the fingerprint sensor is under the glass. Compared to that, Apple specifically left the hell out of it all and we got facial recognition that the dog didn’t want either. Thank You!

As they say, hope dies last. The technology has been available for a year or two, we hope it has been improved so much that it can be deployed in 2018. It is now rumored that at CES 2018, Vivo will unveil the first phone with a fingerprint scanner under glass. We push, but we add, we believe when we see!

7. Quality camera optics

Surely this is our desire. It’s so, sorry, but we got shit cameras for some Android phones in 2017 that the pictures taken with them could have triggered many popular interrogation devices in the Middle Ages. Even with quite reputable and relatively expensive phones, we find that the manufacturer incorporates a damn high-pixel sensor because it looks good on the data sheet, then pairs it with unusable camera software and a snap-on lens.

No, no one should tell us that you can’t make a lens that can be used on such a small size because it can. Of course, you will never have a phone on a level with a professional camera, but there are countless levels between useless and professional quality. We ask that we want phone manufacturers to finally put usable optics over the usable sensor. The multimedia capabilities in the central units are getting better, we beg you to use them properly!

8. Headphone jack

Again, just a dream. You may have read above that we are big fans of Type-C connectors. In fact, this can also replace the 3,5mm Jack, but ask if you know this, is it mandatory to take advantage of it? Isn't that right? We beg, we’re not our sheep, we don’t have to go after Apple’s stupidity, we don’t want to use Type-C converters and Bluetooth earphones, we want the good old analog method, turn on the power, share the vibrate! Is this such a big request?

What will a modern phone look like in 2018 after all? Heck, but if you have to guess, there will be a minimum of eight cores, a minimum of 18: 9 FHD + resolution, 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. We only hope for the rest, as described in the article above!
