Microsoft has scattered a mill, in dollars, of course!

Microsoft has announced the winners of one of the world’s most prestigious technology student competitions, the 11th Microsoft Imagine Cup. Young developers and future entrepreneurs took part in the competition with their projects.

After national rounds and online qualifiers, 71 student teams from 87 countries competed in the international final. Microsoft awarded the participating winning teams more than $ 1 million in cash and other prizes in the one-year competition.

This year’s spectrum of winning ideas ranged from a portable - and thus life-saving - due to faster intervention - blood type measuring device to a mobile game built on a nightmare to tourist mobile apps running with playful quizzes and puzzles.

    Imagine Cup Challenge winners:

    This year, students were also able to enter the Imagine Cup in three categories with online rounds only. To complete the tasks, they had to create learning or application development projects in Windows Azure, Windows Phone, or Windows 8.

    Windows Azure Challenge:

    • First place, $ 10,000: Team Y-Nots, India, project: Zoik It!
    • Second place, $ 5,000: Team nlife, Ukraine, project: onQuests
    • Third place, $ 3,000: Team LetsGo, China, project: Get & Put

    Windows Phone Challenge:

    • First place, $ 10,000: Team vSoft Studio, Singapore, project: Speak Reminder
    • Second place, $ 5,000: Team WeRule, Poland, project: Modern Drug Test
    • Third place, $ 3,000: Team front, Poland, project: Cope

    In 2014, the Imagine Cup will take place at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond.
