The iPhone 3G is only $ 199

The second generation has arrived: the design has remained, the range of services has expanded.

On the first day of the 2008 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, Steve Jobs unveiled the second generation of the iPhone. The device has changed in several ways, but three of the innovations are worth highlighting right from the start: knowledge of 3G wireless technology, GPS and Microsoft Exchange support.

iPhone 3G for just $ 199

After the aforementioned innovations, perhaps the most important is increased battery performance, as while the previous-generation iPhone set 8 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time as the maximum, for the iPhone 3G, those figures changed to 10 and 300 hours, respectively.

A small but even more important innovation is the new type of headphone input, which, unlike the previous model, does not require any cumbersome converter to connect our headphones to the device. The back cover is now made of plastic instead of metal, which is used to preserve the thinness of the device - from 11,6 to 12,3 mm.

With the exception of these innovations, the rest remained essentially the same. Thanks to its aggressive pricing policy, the second-generation iPhone will be on store shelves at an extremely affordable price: the 8GB version can be taken home for just $ 199 and the 16GB version for $ 299. These prices are, of course, to be understood as a 2-year loyalty statement.

The 16GB model will be available in not only black but also white. Distribution will begin on July 11, covering 22 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal , Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Great Britain and the United States.
