Yet for a while it seemed like we were over the hard.

INTEL processors are becoming more expensive again!

By now, we can safely say that our readers are aware that INTEL has maneuvered itself into a very tight position in the processor market. The latter fact can be traced back to the appearance of AMD Ryzen CPUs on the one hand, and the “Chipzilla” on the other, thanks to the situation itself, at least in the sense that the 10nm manufacturing technology was a bit too big to dream of. For our part, of course, we only monitor the development of prices and the market ex officio, which has given rise to confidence in recent weeks. Unfortunately, the thing seems to have been an early joy, with Digitimes Research’s latest report showing the deficit is widening again, apparently embodied in rising prices.

Currently, the shortage of Core i5 processors is the most severe, but in the coming weeks, more expensive models (eg Core i3) are expected to become more expensive. We don’t detail exactly why (otherwise the sources mention that the demand for Chromebooks is growing), probably by now everyone is in the attic full of different explanations. On the positive side, however, Intel is expected to significantly expand its 14nm manufacturing capacity in July or August (by about 25 percent), so that’s when market conditions may begin to settle. By the way, it is planned that in the second half of the year, the production of 10 nm will finally get more serious, but we will only believe this in the light of actual evidence.

Needless to say, the main winner of the situation is AMD; the company increased its market share among OEMs from 9,8% to 15,8% in one year.
