Introducing the ASUS Eee PC X101, the world's thinnest and lightest netbook

The ASUS Eee PC X101 netbook, the world's thinnest and lightest netbook, has been unveiled.

Announced at this year’s Computex show, the X101 is extremely thin: at just 17,6 millimeters thick and weighs just 920 grams - so it fits in any bag and is great to carry. With the new MeeGo operating system pre-installed on the X101, users can stay in touch with their favorite social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and more. It can be a perfect first machine for kids or teenagers, but it’s also ideal for a student netbook.

Real mobility  
The X101 shakes off the formal limitations of older netbooks: at just 17,6 millimeters thick and weighing 920 grams, it still has all the features of a netbook. The Intel® Atom ™ N435 processor comes with 1GB of RAM, two USB 2.0 ports, a MicroSD card reader, a built-in webcam and an 8GB SSD for fast system and program startup. The built-in ASUS Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) technology helps the machine last longer with battery life, which is available in black and white - later the X101 will be available in additional colors.    

Community existence  
The main goal in developing the new MeeGo operating system was to ensure the ability to stay in touch in a comfortable, easy-to-use interface. Dedicated apps for Facebook and Twitter and dedicated instant messaging (IM) clients make it easier to follow your friends in unprecedented ways. You can use the Google Chromium browser, a built-in accessory of MeeGo OS, to roam the World Wide Web, and a range of cloud-based services such as asus @ vibe, the asus appstore and the popular Dropbox online file storage.
