AMD FineWine technology works

The “technology” called FineWine doesn’t officially exist, it’s just a community-created name. By the way, FineWine covers / implies that the scissors between AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards, which initially move at the same level, open continuously over time, and then the former permanently leaves the latter. Known and recognized in professional circles, 3DCenter.org has now followed suit, and no big surprise this time around.

Performance Prognose GeForce GTX 1060 Radeon RX 480

As you can see, the GeForce GTX 1060 was capable of roughly 2015 percent faster pace than its red counterpart at the start (mid-10). The situation has changed over the years, with DirectX 12 and the Vulcan API generally lying better on the Radeon RX 480, so by now we’ve gotten to the point where the difference has been reversed, or rather the scissors have closed. The trend, according to the portal, will not change this year either, so the difference is likely to intensify somewhat.

All you need to know about aggregation is that the underlying measurements are not made by 3DCenter.org, but work from data from well-known computer sites: AnandTech, ComputerBase, Guru3D, TechPowerUp, Tom's Hardware, and more. The averaged results are derived from a set of the order of hundreds, so a single outlier does not cause any significant distortion.
