N-One makes ultra-cheap tablets. That is, manufactured. In other words, it is still producing such products, but in the meantime, almost unnoticed, they also targeted the middle category. After the flimsy but price-beating Air and the recent Pro based on a hit chip, the X from the NPad series has now arrived, and it will clearly be the top machine of the family.

What makes it look cheap is undoubtedly the packaging.

The X comes in the usual single box, no surprises on the outside, the usual white cardboard. I don't actually have a problem with this, the impression is rather positive, the slightly textured surface seems almost quality.

However, there is a small defect inside, so much so that I feel that the X's extremely thin plastic bed is a step back, even compared to the Air's foam, although I wouldn't dare say anything good about it other than that it does its job.

Obviously, this is a less important aspect of the purchase, because in the best case, if we take it out of the box, we won't want to put it back.

What is much more important is the hardware!

The NPad X turned out to be an interesting creation, at least compared to its predecessors. I liked the Tiger chips because they had everything an entry-level machine needed. They were characterized by usable navigation, 4G capability that can also be used at home, adequate camera support and tolerable performance. Of course, in the case of the 3xx series, the performance was not steely, but in the case of the 6xx pieces, there was already some play.

However, the N-One NPad X has become a completely different world. This machine already has a MediaTek chip from the well-known Helio series. You know, these are the chips with which MTK was able to kick the ball again with Qualcomm. But these chips were still "only" capable of 4G. The AG series also offered a little more within these chips, because the G in this case stood for Gaming, meaning that the G chips were always a bit sharper than the ones without G.

This tablet is therefore powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor, which is one of the most modern, manufactured with a 6-nanometer strip width and FinFET process. Fortunately, MediaTek has long since left behind the 10-core architectures with relatively good performance, but with even higher consumption, and returned to 8 cores, including 2+6 core clusters. The G99 features two 2,2 GHz ARM Cortex-A76 cores and 6 energy-saving ARM Cortex-A55 cores (max. 2 GHz) in addition to the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 two-core graphics accelerator.

This hardware ensures that we get the right performance. It is just icing on the cake that the memory capacity is surprisingly large, 8 GB, and the backup storage is also not limited with its 128 GB area. If you still find it insufficient, you can put a memory card in the SIM tray, even a terras, so you won't run out of storage!

Since this machine is the top of the brand, the other capabilities also show nicely in the specification table. It is enough to mention the huge 10,95-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2000 x 1200, the navigation supporting GPS/GALILEO/GLONASS/BDS/A-GPS systems, the battery with a capacity of 8600 mAh, the rear double camera (Sony 20 Mp + 2 MP macro), the audio with four speakers, or the B20 band, which is of course also supported here, as a result of which 4G mobile internet is also available.

Of course, the specification is important, but the experience gained during real use is much more important!

It was not by chance that I mentioned the Redmi tab in the introduction, because the N-One NPad X spits out Redmi in many ways. In other respects, it is much more than the Redmi, so in our case it is not an exaggeration to put it on both shoulders.

The exterior is very similar, although the back panel in the case of the X consists of two parts, a larger aluminum area and a smaller plastic area. The frame, on the other hand, is already leaning towards the new trendy, slightly more angular (more apple-like) design, just like Xiaomi's previous and latest machine, as well as the Redmi tab. The rear camera island is almost identical, except that the Redmi has fewer cameras and lacks macro.

The size of the Redmi Tab is only 10,6 inches compared to the almost 11 inches of the NPad X, but their resolution is the same. Redmi also uses the Helio G99 chip, but in their machines you can only choose from 3, 4 or 6 GB of memory, compared to the basic 4+4 GB capacity of the X. Due to the identity of the central chip, the other capabilities are the same, i.e. there is no difference in navigation or Wi-Fi. There are 4 speakers here and there, but the battery is slimmer in the Redmi, only 8000 mAh compared to the 8600 mAh capacity of the X.

So the bottom line is that the N-One NPad X is a bit of a Redmi, but not because it approaches its skills, but because it leaves it behind a bit. Of course, Redmi is obviously more expensive, that is, the name plus the slightly weaker hardware together cost more. This is a big advantage of N-One, it produces cheap machines.

There is no fault with the performance!

To be honest, I don't usually do brutally high performance tests with tablets anymore, approx. On Antutu, we're fine, but that's just to get a score, not just because of my two beautiful eyes, so you have to believe that I'm a cutie or not. But the X cracks. True, the Helio G99 is still not an 8 gen2. but it gave me nearly 350 points, so I wouldn't dare to call it bad.

This machine could even be used as a gamer tablet if the display wasn't 60 hertz and the brightness wasn't too low. Of course, this is also relative, but the brightness of 380 nits according to the paper form did not seem much, and let's face it, it is not much in reality either. Of course, it's great indoors, I tried it for navigation in a car, it was good there too, but you'd rather not use it in the sun.

If it's navigation. According to the paper form, the machine knows just as many satellite systems as the Tiger chip solutions, but still the two are heaven and earth. In the case of Tiger, inaccuracies of a few 10 (100) meters are not uncommon, and finding satellites was not always a smooth experience either. Well, with the G99, we can forget about these annoyances. Like lightning!

The question is how to use it everyday!

Well, I had about a week to push it, specifically I took it on vacation, so I could really try it live. And was it good. I wouldn't dare to write that it's GOOD, just that it's good.

It is relatively light, weighing just over 500 grams. It's not too thick, although the camera island sticks out a little more from the back than we're used to. It is particularly comfortable to hold, I like angular solutions, the older soap holder shape didn't really work. It's good as it is, elegant, comfortable, it could be any brand-name car!

The speed, as I wrote, is fine. The sound could be better, despite the four speakers, I wouldn't call it hi-fi, but it pushes the sounds with honor, if you're not a keen ear, you can also listen to music on it. You won't fall back on quality, but it won't make you grind your teeth either.

I already wrote about the display above. I would like to add so many interesting things to the topic that when I took it out of the antistatic bag, I noticed that the foil was clean scratched, even though I haven't even used it yet. After that, it turned out that there is another protective film under the protective film, that is, the real one, which really protects the display. Well, it's not crazy either, approx. it's worth using it until you can buy a decent glass for it.

So the point is, don't be scared by the scratched screen protector film, pull it off, there is another film under the film, it won't be scratched!

What I was very curious about (although I shouldn't have been) was the camera. At the time, with Xiaomi's five series, I was especially surprised by how well the camera was usable, for some reason I expected the X 20 megapixel to be similar, especially since it's a Sony sensor, which you really can't touch. Well, you can.

Indoors, everything is tolerable, although the colors fade a little, but it's not terrible. It is possible to create RAW images, we can still work a little magic on them in Photoshop, but you can't do miracles. The real problems start outside, because neither the automatic nor the manual white balance settings are good. The colors fade away, but very much, the contrast is terrible, the balance between the light (sunny) and dark parts is by no means good, and the detail is also poor.

The pictures shown in the article are the better ones, I didn't even include the really crappy ones, so you can assume that the best alignment of the stars results in such quality.

I shouldn't waste any words on the macro camera. In principle, it would be possible to take photos from 3 cm away, but somehow the focus will never be sharp. In fact, the main camera is much, much, MUCH better for close-ups.

I haven't talked about the operating system yet, but not by accident, but because there's nothing to talk about, and that's more good than bad in this case. We get Android 13, it's not littered with unscratchable programs, it's also fast, the processor is more than enough, so it's perfect.

Sum it!

If someone asked me if I would buy the N-One NPad X, then (now that I think about it better) I would say yes after a little hesitation, and this is mostly due to the G99 processor, a lot of memory and a large storage space . Of course, there will be those for whom the 4G support can put a lot of pressure on them, while for others the faultless navigation system would be the final decision, I don't use them that much.

What I still don't use very much on a tablet are the cameras, so I don't mind that they are basically useless.

The machine is essentially perfect for what I usually use a tablet for. To watch a movie or series when I don't want to turn on the TV. Catching up on my mail, watching YouTube videos, reading online, so much more for the usual stuff. It is certain that the power of the processor will be enough for these general tasks for years to come!

Who would not recommend buying it?

For those who are Redmi fanatics, because the Redmi tab is both weaker and more expensive, but Redmi. So if you want a better sounding name, pay for it. I don't recommend it to professional gamers either, the display and sound system won't be enough for them. But for amateurs, spending their free time with a game will be just fine!

I also do not recommend it to those who want to record the film of their life with a tablet, or who want to photograph the most important moments. With the N-One NPad X, those moments will be wasted.

I also don't recommend it to those who insist on FHD Netflix, because without L1 they won't have it either. Anyway, it's perfectly fine for streaming, the display size, colors, and sound system are all suitable for watching movies.

However, I warmly recommend it to everyone else, the N-One NPad X has turned out to be a really good little machine, in principle it beats only one smaller Pro version, so if the wallet allows, I would choose this one compared to the Tiger chip Pro.

All in all, the N-One NPad X turned out to be a good little machine, actually too good for N-One as a manufacturer. In other words, no, I'd rather say that this machine from them is surprisingly good, if only because they managed to keep the good habit of asking little for their machines in terms of price.
