Samsung camcorder with Time-lapse function

Anyone who has ever seen a nice Time-Lapse video knows what magic it is to play with time, to speed up the flow of the world. Well, Samsung’s new camera can do that, but it also has some interesting capabilities.

The Samsung HMX-F90 is capable of recording HD video, albeit "only" in 1280 x 720 pixel resolution (NTSC 30p, 25p PAL). For this, a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor and 52x optical zoom are available, which can be digitally 70x using the Intelli-zoom function. Recording is supported by a 2,7 inch TFT LCD display, on which recordings can of course be viewed and even edited. The lens has an f/2.1 value, Samsung's own Hyper DIS process is responsible for image stabilization.

The audio is recorded in MP4 AAC audio format. You can record a still image in JPEG format with a resolution of 1,6 megapixels (1696 x 954) in 16: 9 and 1,9 megapixels (1600 x 1200) in 4: 3 aspect ratio.

In addition to the aforementioned Time-lapse recording, we find the Smart Background Music function, which, as its name suggests, mixes music behind the recordings. There is also a Record Pause function that allows you to stop recording instead of opening a new file after starting, but to resume the started recording. Another interesting feature is the One Touch Share feature, which, as the name implies, can easily share recorded material over the Internet at the touch of a button.

The camera does not have a built-in mass storage device, recordings can be recorded on SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards. The HMX-F90 weighs 267,9 grams and measures 119 x 56,4 x 53,9 millimeters. There is no information about the price yet, but it is likely that it will hit store shelves by Christmas.
