Kospet Tank S1 strap watch test - more beautiful, smarter, stronger
Rugged phones have been a common product for years, but for some reason, rugged watches have been treated as stepchildren. Kospet's previous "Tank" and "Rock" were quite clever, they lasted a lot, but they were hardly beautiful. They are made for people for whom appearance is secondary, but durability is important. There were probably not many such people.

Kospet's sixth wearable watch, the Tank S1, represents a completely new world. The durability has become even better, the shape is sporty, it finally looks like a real watch, and as an addition, we come across such niceties as the AMOLED display, which, by the way, has very beautiful colors and is finally unusable even in sunlight. So, the Kospet S1 is a real watch that you can punch and cut!
It's an added bonus that the manufacturer specifically recommends this watch for ladies, and I'll just add that it will be plenty good for gentlemen too!
What made it more beautiful?
Even in terms of packaging, the Kospet Tank S1 shows that it represents a completely different level than its predecessors. The box has a magnetic lid similar to Tronsmarts. The quality is good, the graphics are a bit too Chinese for me. It's okay that it's a sports watch, but they could have added a touch of elegance to the packaging.
Fortunately, the box is only interesting until you take the watch out of it.
The watch itself, as I wrote in the announcement above, is finally in the shape of a watch, we can forget about the Transformers design. I'm obsessed with round dials anyway, so it's like this was designed for me. The material of the house is aluminum, steel and of course plastic. The dial is a 1,3-inch AMOLED panel with third-generation Gorilla Glass on top. The former looks very good, the latter could have been a bit newer, but let's not be insatiable, it's a wonder that this was included in the price of the watch.
Thinking about the ladies, Kospet didn't only give the usual gray-black color, we can also buy pink and green (fold green, moonlight white, sakura pink and space black), the latter is a green apple color, so it's light, not the loud dark green.
Considering the size of the Tank S1, it can easily be a men's watch. Granted, I don't have thick wrists, but I don't think it looks silly on my hands. I specifically asked for the white one for the test, I was curious what it would be like. Well, it's not bad, but when viewed from above, the stuff has a strong plastic smell. Maybe I should have asked for black...
What made you smarter?
Well, I don't have much to report in terms of cleverness. The Da Fit app was replaced on the phone by a program called Kospet Fitt. According to my memory, this is approx. knows as much as Da Fit. This is neither good nor bad. These applications tend to receive a lot of negative reviews, I think for the most part without reason, because they can manage the watch without major errors and through a usable interface.
What is important is that, compared to the Tank M1, it no longer supports 24, but no less than 70 sports modes. Due to their large number, I will refrain from listing them now, but I think it is important to describe that swimming is naturally included in the repertoire.
That's pretty much the difference, but there are still plenty of convenience features. Ladies can also use it to track their menstrual cycle, but we also have pulse measurement, heart monitor, blood oxygen level measurement and blood pressure measurement.
Of course, I tested the latter, that is, I also compared it with our upper arm blood pressure monitor. It's true, I made so many concessions that the armband was measured on my right arm and the watch on my left wrist, we know that the values can differ depending on the arm, but in this case the difference was much larger than what I can accept as a margin of error.
My normal blood pressure was 142/90 with the traditional meter and 126/73 with the watch. So there is still room to improve the sensor and the technology.
The older, already proven measurement solutions, such as pulse and blood oxygen, are suitable, although it is difficult to determine this for the latter, because they say that a value of 95+ is good, so if the fingertip meter shows 97, the watch shows 96 , then it is difficult to decide whether it is a one percent difference (1-100) or twenty percent (95-100).
Of course, there are all other usual things, i.e. step counting, calorie counting, call and message display, warning if you sit too much, and the like. It is also possible to make and receive calls via Bluetooth, which also means that the watch has a microphone and speaker.
What made him stronger?
Well, nothing. This could be sad, but it is not, because in the case of the Tank series, it is no longer the IP68-IP69 or even the IP69K rating that we are used to, but the military US MIL-STD-810H.
Let's start with the fact that it is, of course, waterproof, but not to any extent. The IP69K rating in itself means that it is essentially resistant to all kinds of wet and dusty environments, including high-pressure water spraying. But that's not enough, as the watch also meets the much more demanding MIL-STD810 military standard, which also requires it to withstand direct sunlight, an acidic environment and extreme heat.
According to the factory data, the KOSPET TANK S1 can withstand a high pressure of 5 ATM, but it can also withstand extremely low pressure, so it remains functional up to an altitude of 12 meters, and can also be used for swimming.
It is important that the 5ATM pressure exists in the case of a water depth of 50 meters, but this does not mean that the watches marked 5ATM were developed for tasks to be performed at a depth of 50 meters. In other words, these watches are not recommended for diving, but they are not suitable for swimming in a pool or open water for hours.
It is not a problem in a harshly humid environment, we can use it even with a humidity of 95 percent (the manufacturer warns us not to take a sauna in it, that's for sure). We can use it in cold or hot weather, normal operation is ensured between minus 40 and plus 70 degrees. It withstands impact and vibration, and is guaranteed not to get wet for 8 hours.
There are exactly 15 tests that were carried out in the framework of MIL-STD-810H, these are the wet environment high temperature test, the +70 and -40 degree temperature test, the salt spray test, the contaminated liquid test, the impact test, the shock test, low pressure test, sun exposure test, rain test, sand and dust test.
So, at least in principle, it should be able to withstand everything, or at least almost everything!
I have to add here that the Kospet Tank X1 goes even further, it surpasses the above endurance capabilities by working up to a pressure of 10 ATM.
What to use?
Well, the Kospet Tank S1 is a fairly simple structure in that the operating system is not Android, but a unique, low-resource software. It doesn't need a lot of memory or a large storage space. It is not possible to install programs afterwards. However, in my opinion, this is not a problem, because Kospet's watch basically knows everything that we can expect from such a watch. I certainly wouldn't want to install anything other than what was already provided in the factory software.
It can be used simply as a smart watch, it can also be used as a sports watch. It doesn't matter to him that there is no outlet nearby for a week, from which we can charge it, and even if we do extreme sports or simply do work with extreme load.
I would say that I was surprised that, for a women's watch, it fits perfectly on my hand, but I would be lying. Based on the specification, I knew what to expect. A regular sports watch look without being too big or too heavy. I'll note here that it only weighs 45 grams, so you'll essentially forget it's on your wrist.
It is comfortable to wear. I'm not saying that I haven't had a more comfortable silicone strap, but the stuff is not bad. It's definitely strong, there's no denying it, nothing will tear this strap off your wrist.
The S1 has a very large battery, with a capacity of 300 mAh. This can provide up to 50 days of standby time, or 8-15 days with normal use. With the display permanently on, it must be charged every two to three days.
The always-on display here means AOD, i.e. Always-On Display mode. Yes, this is already available, since AMOLED is the display panel. According to my own experience, these 2-3 days are closer to two than three, but this is not a bad value in my opinion.
Finally, Bluetooth calling is a surprisingly good feature in this watch. The speaker is quite strong, the partner's voice can be heard clearly even when the watch is on the wrist. The microphone is also good, according to the called parties, my voice was absolutely intelligible and clear during calls.
So, with this watch you will be able to make phone calls even if your phone is in your backpack or pocket.
What can be the conclusion then?
In short, it can be said that the Kospet Tank S1 has become a reliable watch. The durability meets all requirements, the AMOLED display is really bright, the light is sufficient, the colors are also fine. I like the currently available (not yet very abundant) dials, the exterior is also good, a real sports watch.
It supports many messaging applications and displays messages properly with accented characters. You can make and receive calls with the watch, the conversation is also fine with the built-in speaker and microphone. So now you'll not only miss your messages, but also your incoming calls while you're hanging from a cliff like Ethan Hunt.
We have no problem with knowledge either, the 70 types of supported sports are well above average (I suspect that the S in the name stands for sport). Although the manufacturer recommends the watch for women, I think the black color (or even white) is the right size for men as well.
The health functions are also fine, let's say I wouldn't trust a blood pressure monitor with my life, but it's also good for noticing sudden changes in values. The heart rate measurement is okay, especially since an alarm can be added, so the watch sounds during sports if it detects a too high value.
All in all, the price is worth it, especially if you can take advantage of its durability. He really knows a lot, he can really handle a lot, and he looks pretty good too.
