ATI Radeon HD 5670 – Is DirectX 11 really cheaply? (english version) 2010-03-08 8 2217
We start the summarize with ASUS EAH5750 Formula, because it is less complex, like 5670. We thinks ASUS did good work, but there is some annoying flaw. We require some clock speed enhance by a full revisioned card, because there is reason for better cooling and quality components, if it shows on performance, but of course it has importance at warming and noise level too, indeed we liked to see big overclocking on Formula (there is a lot of costumer who do not concerned with it).
Of couse lot of users take the control on their hand, and they will test edge of Formula. A full game would not bad in the box like Call of Pripyat or Dirt 2 if we are talking about DirectX 11, we get coupon to lot of ASUS model, it could be here too. I liked the controller, good to see the care, and garnish is well too. We have good news with the price, the reference HD 5750 is about 27000 HUF, ASUS EAH5750 Formula starts at 30 000 HUF, the difference is real, but not horrific, rather it is inviting. So if you like Formula, and you thought about 5750, ASUS’ special product may a good a choice.
Radeon HD 5670 is an interesting product, we think its exam was succesful. We can discover some modification on ASUS’ product, but it is almost factory default card. It has good result on stage of power usage and warming, but it is not surprise. It must fought with overpowered enemies, results verify that, main point is we can rating with other cards. Radeon HD 5670 price/performance judgement is hard. Price is aroung 20 000 HUF or more. If we look that an HD 4770 or HD 4850 is 23-25000 HUF, and rate the performance, we have to say HD 5670 is still overpriced, although it get near to the mentioned cards, it can not bite them, and sometimes it is slower, DirectX 11 here or there.
That is not a problem, and we was not amazed knowing Redwood GPU’s architecture. Problem is that the card not so much cheaper at 4770 or 4850 than with as much slower. Ofcourse there is marketing features like DirectX 11, power of new, andanced exports – Eyefinity. They sounds great, but it is not so sure to 5670 can improve, of course it may, but we have to pay it. Costumers who want use fresh cards for gaming, and can steady for older cards, have to buy HD 4850 or HD 4770, if you must use DirectX11 and new AMD features, and big power, than you may think about HD 5750, but if you need a silence and cold card with DirectX 11, HD 5670 is the best choice. It is good for HTPC, but if we do not want play with games, than better for wait HD 5400 series!
